Yazy & John Raclawski are a Chicago-based husband and wife Fine Art photographer team specializing in shooting a combination of film and digital. Two artists, two personalities, two sets of eyes, one creation. 

As photographers, we think a lot about moments- how perfect and fleeting they are. Each one is a treasure to us, meant to be netted in from the hands of time, to be enjoyed and cherished forever. We want to capture the beauty, possibility, imagination, electricity, peace, excitement, and love that fill each one. We see each moment as a dream brought to life by the stunning people who create it.

My love for photography was nourished by my grandfather. He used to work in a photography studio in Monterrey, Mexico. I remember him showing me pictures through a wheel, and teaching me how to pull the wheel's handle to look at the next frame. Gifted by his sense of beauty, I began to look at magazines with a fresh set of eyes – seeing a picture, placing it on my bedroom wall, and staring at its splendor. This thirst for creative beauty and for daring perspective now shapes the way I see our world. I purchased my first camera in 1992- I knew right away that my passion was the potential for beauty that lay within its frame.

I don’t live my life as the world dictates; I live my life in the world that I am creating. I believe everyone is unique and has the soul of an artist- I am passionate about using my art to draw it out of each person I photograph. It is my goal that a photo session with me will leave you knowing just how beautiful you are in every way. 

I am an eternal dreamer who loves butterflies, fairies, and the way the sun lights up the world. I love my husband and my daughter, and am deliriously happy with my life and work!
 

John
My passion for photography was inspired by my wife, Yazy. Her enthusiasm for photography inspired me to join her as a second shooter and business associate in our photography partnership. I love to see Yazy express what she really loves in her pictures. As a husband and wife team, we work well together and understand how to best coordinate your wedding day so that all bases are covered.

I have always loved new challenges and adventures. That’s why photography is especially exciting. In my spare time, I use my pilot’s license to get a perfect view of the world. I served in the Armed Forces, and have a computer science background. When I met Yazy, it was love at first sight! Now, seven years later we have a lovely daughter and a passion for life that keeps us going strong.
